Fernando Amorsolo
Amorsolo was born in May 30, 1892 in Paco,Manila. The mother's cousin of her mother is also a Filipino painter named Don Fabian De La Rosa. At the age age of 13, Amorsolo became an apprentice to Dela Rosa, who would eventually become the advocate and guide to Amorsolo's painting career.
Amorsolo's first succes as a young painter came in 1908, when painting leyendo el periodico took second place at the Bazar Escolta a contest organize by the Asociacion International de artistas. Between 1909 and 1914, Amorsolo enrolled at the Art School of the Liceo de Manila. After graduating from the liceo, he entered the 'University of the Philippines' School at Fine Arts, where De La Rosa worked at the time.
One of his famous Art is Tinikling in 1950. Tinikling is a traditional philippine folk dance that has been originated during the Spanish colonial era that involves two people beating, tapping, and sliding bamboo poles on the ground againts each other and this is shown by the Art of Amorsolo.
He made this art because he want to share the culture of Filipinos and he believed in saying that he had to make one yesterday to bring back at home.
